Blank Live Help Chat Window Issue
If you have installed Live Help and the Live Help popup window is showing a blank chat window then we recommend the following troubleshooting steps.
- Check that the /livehelp/templates_c/ directory exists. If this directory doesn’t exist then please create it.
- If the chat window is still blank then make the /livehelp/templates_c/ directory writable. We recommend that you try the following permissions in this order 755, 775 and 777. Windows Servers should have Full Control permissions for the Internet Guest Account
The /livehelp/templates_c/ directory should be writable so that the Live Help templates can be created. This issue will only affect Live Help installations v3.90 and above.
Please note: If you are using Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) then you may also need to setup allow_httpd_anon_write to 1. You can do this by running the command setsebool -P allow_httpd_anon_write 1

I tried deleting the contents of the templates_c directory, reassigning permissions. Still blank popup web client
Gabriel, please double check the permissions are writable on the /livehelp/templates_c/ directory and try refresh your browser cache as it might be loading older cached data.
Worked! Thank you so much this WHMCS addon is AMAZING!
Rock on WHMCS! This KB article also fixes the following error (clicking Away or BRB):
The requested content cannot be loaded.
Please try again later.
chmod 755 livehelp/templates_c/ ; chown lighttpd.lighttpd livehelp/templates_c/
Boom!
Tried all the above, but doesn’t work for me.
Lots of bugs in this new version
Upgrade is not smooth. Things don’t work for me
Pallavi, can you please contact us via. email or Live Chat and we will be able to assist you further with the upgrade issues that you are experiencing.
I have changed the permissions of /livehelp/templates_c/ to 777 and have set allow_httpd_anon_write to 1; however, I am still just getting a blank popup window when the user tries to switch to it from the chat embedded in our website. Any other thoughts?
The website is currently on an internal development server so I cannot share a link at this time =/
Zachary, please re-download the latest Live Help files v4.0 Rev. 8 and re-upload the /livehelp/include/smarty/ folder. This should resolve the issue that you are experiencing when the write permissions are setup correctly.
