Live Help Messenger Desktop - VoIP Call Back / Voice / RSS
The next major release of the Live Help Messenger Desktop application (version 3.0) is approaching beta release. The interface of the desktop application has been re-designed to incorporate new features such as a VoIP / Skype call back service, RSS 2.0 feeds for subscribing to third party support / ticketing feeds.

Initially the VoIP call back feature will only support SIP 2.0-compatible devices, testing has also been completed using Asterisk (FreePBX) SIP extensions. Additionally, we will be supporting Skype for those customers that have not yet implemented VoIP / SIP 2.0-compatible hardware within their business. The user interface for the VoIP call back feature is shown below and easily allows for click-to-dial:

Feel free to comment and provide us with feedback regarding these features. We value and appreciate feedback from our customers when developing new releases. Thank you for reading!

Wow! Looks really good. Can’t wait to Beta test. A nice thing would be IAX support.
And one thing for the webinterface: don’t use .wav sounds. they don’t really work on Windows without Quicktime. Flash sounds are better.
Greets,
Florian

Looks great any news about when it will be released?

Emile, we do not have an exact release date available. We expect a beta version to be available within the customer area (for all existing customers) near the end of July (this date is not guaranteed). The beta release will also be announced within the company blog.

A complete feature list will be announced within the company blog prior to the beta announcement. Thanks!

Thank you for all the comments, we are still aiming to release of the Live Help Messenger v3.0 beta soon. Thank you for your patience and sorry for the delays.

Live Help v3.0 looks nice. I too am waiting for additional features. The two things I would like addressed from what I have had problems with currently is:
a) The ability to integrate Live Help into an all Flash web site. Currently I have been unsuccessful in getting a Flash ‘online’ indication working using stardevelop’s code. Obviously the Flash call needs Java support, but since I don’t know a whole lot about Flash or Java I didn’t get anything working yet. This is a priority to me
b) When the last version of the client app came out there was a change in the way support reps are notified about connecting clients to a web page. Currently a second window is launched in addition to the main client window in order to monitor visitors. Prior releases had this embedded into the main client app. I would like to see this option restored as having more than 1 window isn’t that great.
Again, I am very interested in seeing what is upcoming. Please contact me for beta testing.

Anthony, thanks for the comments and feedback.
Currently it is possible to open the Live Help chat popup window within a Flash object. You would need to call the JavaScript function openLiveHelp() from within your Flash object.
It is not currently possible to display an Online / Offline indicator that changes based on the Live Help status within a Flash object. We may add full Flash support within a future release - this would most likely require some ActionScript that integrates with the Live Help status indicator.
We have improved the Live Help Messenger windows and their behaviour within the upcoming v3.0 release. We will continue to improve this within further releases and consider your suggestion.

Well, here is a Flash header with our mascot sleeping or not: http://forum.b-powers.be
Leave an offline message if you want more info on it.

A spell check feature would also be nice.
v3.0 looks very good.

We have noticed one major factor with the latest release, which we find would be extremely important to address.
We have an online Advisors website and have noticed that when a client chats with one Advisor and then ends this chat and later on connects with another Advisor, ALL of the PREVIOUS chat text appears in the NEW WINDOW, We need to have this feature Disabled.
The reason being that all Conversations between Client and Consultant are confidential and this creates conflict of interest and directly affects
the clients Confidentiality within the service provided.
I would also like to know more about this VoIP callback … will it only work with Skype? or will we be able to integrate this using our own server running software?
August 9th, 2007 at 12:48 PM
Jordan, Spell Checking has already been added to the Live Help v3.0 release. This will be available in the Live Help operator chat windows as you type your messages / responses.
Additionally we have plans for a setting to disable the “Remember Previous Chat Transcript” This should also make the v3.0 release - we are also working on an update for the current release that will disable this functionality.
The call back functionality will support Skype and SIP 2.0 compliant devices.
August 9th, 2007 at 3:25 PM
Olga & Chris, we now have an update available to disable the previous chat transcripts from appearing. Please contact technical support to have this update applied.
Thanks!

I would like to see a feature if I send a chat invite while I am at an away status - that the user will be able to accept it
Currently if they accept it, it shows them an offline message request.

Huge thanks to Ledent Francois - genius, I got it going on my website in Flash (version 8), I will be happy to share the love if anyone needs the code I used (mostly stolen from Francois)
Big thanks to Francois again

Can there be some sort of email go out so we know when it’s ready?
August 14th, 2007 at 11:02 PM
Michael, we will investigate this within the following day or so. We should be able to arrange an email subscription. Thanks!
August 16th, 2007 at 8:19 PM
Hello Stardevelop.com,
Could you say that this release is in terms of being completed/released ’soon’?
Also this VoIP, does it have to be installed on our servers?
August 17th, 2007 at 12:04 AM
Jonathan, the v3.0 beta should be available soon - we have experienced several unexpected delays that have affected our original intended release date of early August. We thank everyone for their patience and apologise for the delay.
The VoIP component of our software will not require any VoIP software on the server. The callback system will interface directly to your SIP 2.0 compliant phone / Asterisk server or Skype depending on your preferences.
August 17th, 2007 at 2:10 AM
We will see if it will work with E65 over wireless LAN :)
August 21st, 2007 at 8:24 PM
Will we have it for September ?

Hey… Great work… Keep it up. As a long time user… I can think of no greater suggestion than putting up a community forum on your site.
Look how these guys with the Flash issues have already helped themselves out… How many other cool tips and tricks has each of us accumlated over the years? It would only make your product that much better…
Best regards,
Alex J

Sending out emails when the beta is released will be unnecessary because the Live Help Messenger checks for updates. (correct me if I am wrong)
August 23rd, 2007 at 3:05 PM
Jordan, the Live Help Messenger Windows application will not alert for beta releases, only final releases will trigger the update alerts.
Thank you for the suggestion regarding a community forum, we will consider this for the near future. Also, we are still aiming to release the beta ASAP. Thanks for your patience.
September 7th, 2007 at 5:52 AM
Any updates on the state of the beta?
September 8th, 2007 at 1:08 AM

September 11th, 2007 at 5:30 PM
Any news? any new post on the blog about the evolution of the beta?
September 11th, 2007 at 7:34 PM
Looks amazing, how do we become beta testers please, we own the multi site license already, and once this is released will upgrade to the version without copyright messages aswell.
Keep up the great work
September 11th, 2007 at 10:39 PM
Thanks for the comments and patience, it is great to hear that everyone is very eager for the new upcoming release. We should have an update to the company blog within the next few days.
Terry, the beta release will be available to all existing customers and will be announced within the company blog.
